Hey Fancy Feathers!

Hi everybody! It's time to share a new card!

Unless you've been in a cave for the last 2 years (which if you have been, Welcome Back!) you know that birds are a huge trend right now. Seriously, if people don't like something now-a-days, they put a bird on it and it's fantastic! Owls, Crows, Bluebirds, Eagles, Penguins and of course Peacocks! When I first saw the Peacock stamp in the stamp set "World Treasures", I thought, "Holy Peacock!" It's quite large and intricate and I immediately needed it. People have done some really over-the-top things with this peacock. They've colored all the individual parts, cut out each feather and inked up the bird dramatically in different ways; if you are one of these people, power to you! I, however, wanted to use this stamp for Saturday Stampin'. When making 8 cards for only 10 dollars with limited time, the cards need to be simplified... this peacock doesn't really lend herself to being simplified. But I think I pulled it off okay ;) Let's look at the card:

Stamp Sets: World Treasures, Teeny Tiny Wishes
Card Stock: Crumb Cake, Very Vanilla, Elegant Eggplant, Night of Navy, Pear Pizzazz, Rich Razzleberry
Ink: Elegant Eggplant
Accessories: 1" Circle Punch, Circle punch from the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack

Come on, you're a little impressed, right? ;) Just kidding. So instead of making the stamp itself intricately inked and all sorts of colors, I decided to add this element in the different colored paper strips. There are 4 different colors of paper in this "tail"; Elegant Eggplant, Night of Navy, Pear Pizzazz and Rich Razzleberry. I used a circle punch to create the little tail wing things (I don't know what you'd call them haha). I also used a circle punch to create the corners on the piece of Very Vanilla with the peacock on it, I wanted it to have a little something extra instead of just piece a rectangular piece. Overall I'm really happy with this card. I think it matches the uniqueness of the peacock stamps. Thanks for stopping by!
